Double Trouble

G and I are going to make sure that any photos we take of the boys that make it to paper form are labelled rather carefully.

Why?

When MF was 10 weeks old, he looked like this:

Just look at this face. Am I not the cutest little boy ever?

Baby Boo is 10 weeks old today, so for my amusement I put him in the identical outfit and took a bunch of pictures. And, voilĂ :

Look out, big brother! I'm pretty darn cute myself!

I know they're not identical --MF was Mr Fuzzy Head by this stage, and Baby Boo is decidedly bigger than MF was at ten weeks-- but the resemblance between the two of them is striking, no?

MF, again:

Hmmmm. My little brother has a lot of nerve thinking he can even come close to my level of cuteness.

Baby Boo, again:

Hey! I have to be extra cute, seeing as I'm going to be stuck getting photographed in all of MF's hand-me-downs.

I don't think there will ever be any doubt that these two are brothers.

What I do find particularly amusing, though, is that when MF was a baby, some members of G's family were convinced that he took after 'their side'. And now they're convinced that Baby Boo looks like 'my side'. My mom and her brother, on the other hand, have long been convinced that MF is the spitting image of their youngest brother (who is no longer with us), right down to his blond hair. They're looking for pictures to support this theory.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

MF:

I laugh with mommy!

Baby Boo:

Me, too! Me, too! I laugh with mommy, too!

People really do see what they want to see, no?

But, for the record, my oh-so-adorable boys clearly take after me. ;-)

The resemblance is uncanny! But, you are soooo right, they are both the cutest!!! And they are going to love seeing these comparison photos later in life! What a great idea!

Both adorable!

I hope my two look alike - all 3 of my sibs and I look very much alike, and I think I'll be freaked out if mine don't.

When my son was wee little there was no mistaking he came from the paternal side. It's funny, but as he gets a little older, he's taking on more of the maternal characteristics, which of course, does make him much cuter! ;)

I love the comparison of your boys. They certainly are good-looking babes.

You'll have to move back to North America. You have two little line-backers on your hands there. Cuteness squared.

What fun! They certainly are similar... It'll be fun to see similar photos of them as Boo gets older.

The "who does he/she take after?" questions and theories are almost as much fun as the "what you should and shouldn't name your child" suggestions. ;)

Wow, they really do look alike! I am going to take your note about labelling pictures. I have been very negligent about it.

You're right. There is no mistaking they are brothers!

I have a picture of me at 4. Whenever I show it to people, they automatically assume it is my daughter. Very uncanny.

Oh, wow! They look a lot alike!

My two boys resemble each other a bit, but people would probably think they were cousins.

Both of your boys are absolutely ADORABLE, by the way!

oh yes, definitely - they both look like Mommy. Little linebackers huh? Or whatever is the equivalent on those rugby teams. But then they'd get cauliflower ears nd smashed noses and be less cute. So no rugby for these boys. See why cricket is better?

I can't believe how similar they look. You're right - labels are definitely required! My two (a girl and a boy) are only vaguely alike, but sometimes Enzo will insist a picture of Fiona as an infant is himself.

Mwah. They are stinkin' cute.

Definitely little (adorable) peas in a pod.

Sooooo cute!

When I was born, my father's family was determined to figure out who in their family I most resembled. After conferring, they decided, and my mom kept her mouth shut to keep the peace. Because anyone with eyes can see that I look *exactly* like my mom.

No American football. No rugby. No heading the ball in soccer/football... I want them to use their heads for thinks like learning and thinking, not concussions. So I'm pushing for non-contact sports like volleyball, swimming, tennis, cycling... Yes, they'll probably be quite annoyed with mommy.

And I still maintain cricket is the silliest so-called sport I've ever seen. (G says the silliest would be baseball.)

Oh, and Lady M: have you ever caught one of those horrible 'who's the daddy?' themed talk shows? The guy will stand there, point at the child's photos and announce to the audience that the child could not possibly be his because the child looks nothing like him or his family!

I can't understand why not one person has ever stood up and said something to the effect of: What on earth makes you think the child should take after you and your family? Why can't the child take after his mother and her family? Lots of children do!

Idiots.

they are perfect, of course. it must be amazing to have two, to have one to compare against the other. and yet they are so different.

it's mind boggling.

I love the captions -- that's hilarious, the way they're 'talking' to each other. And the photo shoot recreating the same conditions. Very very funny.

And, of course, CUUUUUUUTE. More baby pictures, please :-)
